What Is Your Covid-19 Escape Plan?
What Is Your Covid-19 Escape Plan? Do you have health issues that put you more at risk? When do you plan on getting back out? Is where you are currently living still locked down or open? Where I live is open and I drove around and at the patio restaurants, I saw about 300 people out and only 3 masks. I don’t think people take it seriously. When do you think it's safe to go back overseas? Will any country even take people from US or Western European counties that have high numbers of cases or will they just see these foreigners as disease carriers and ban them?

Re: What Is Your Covid-19 Escape Plan?
I have no escape plan because I go with the flow. Since my travel plans to Europe are dashed, I will just enjoy the summer here and travel abroad when I finally can. I have no fear about catching Covid-19 and 99% of people will be fine. Those people hanging out have it right (unless they are in the vulnerable groups) because herd immunity is the best way to get past this as Sweden can attest.
Corovavirus was out and about back in October and I traveled by airline often then. When things open up, it should be even safer because of the new measures. Mass hysteria has taken over and only the elderly or the unwell should be quarantined.

I didn't know any of the HA posters are from Africa? @Winston do you have any posters from Africa? Africa currently has the lowest death toll in the world.Moretorque wrote: ↑May 9th, 2020, 2:22 pmI saw a UTUBE video where they were saying it likes to kill Africans ?

I have to admit it is one of my guilty pleasures watching a high-IQ man toying with a low-IQ loser. Doesn't quite seem fair, but it is indeed funny.WorldTraveler wrote: ↑May 9th, 2020, 2:31 pmI didn't know any of the HA posters are from Africa? @Winston do you have any posters from Africa? Well obviously! My most loyal readers are the bigots and haters on the forum. They literally read and comb thru everything I post. And when I respond to their comments, they gobble it up like food and then beg for more.Moretorque wrote: ↑May 9th, 2020, 4:52 pmI just like watch'in the intelligent black man converse....Contrarian Expatriate wrote: ↑May 9th, 2020, 4:16 pmI have to admit it is one of my guilty pleasures watching a high-IQ man toying with a low-IQ loser. I'm not saying any names, but they know who they are. They're like fans almost.

Re: What Is Your Covid-19 Escape Plan?
Living in Japan in a rather rural province (2 million people) after my retirement I have no escape plan, just waiting it out with my wife -WorldTraveler wrote: ↑May 9th, 2020, 1:33 pmWhat Is Your Covid-19 Escape Plan?
.....will they just see these foreigners as disease carriers and ban them?
There are no restrictions here, but restaurants/shopping malls closing earlier, school opening is postponed for a few weeks, bus connection near my home is now on Sunday schedule - reduced service as not so many passengers - no other problem noticed so far.
And despite I am one of the very few Western foreigners here, I do not notice any negative reaction from Japanese locals living nearby our home.
In the entire province only 24 infections were confirmed so far, 15 recovered, nobody died, 9 people still in hospital in isolation.
Nothing really to worry in my area.
Re: What Is Your Covid-19 Escape Plan?
Not sure, as this is only one of the criteria which researchers noticed when compiling data.Moretorque wrote: ↑May 9th, 2020, 2:22 pmI saw a UTUBE video where they were saying it likes to kill Africans ?
It is also said, more men, less women die - regardless their race.
Maybe it is not really about race or gender, but about access to good medical care.
The other criteria are important too and should be considered as well.
Age plays a major role, the immun system of the body gets weaker.
Overweight also is also a serious concern, especially in case of heart problems, diabetes etc.
Heavy smokers are on risk - lung failure is a major reason why corono-patients die. and so on...
Re: What Is Your Covid-19 Escape Plan?
@WorldTraveler asked me this question by PM originally, and this was my reply;
-------
You should make this a thread. I'm in Baza, Spain. Perfect health and am not afraid of covid-19. I was worried in February, which is why I was anxious to get out of the USA, but by mid March I realized the disease is not that serious, as my post history on HA shows.
Lockdown hasn't really bothered me. I carried a shopping bag with food to get out and walk an hour or two each day, then read and listened to music on my hotel room the rest of the time. As a permanent traveler, hotel rooms are like home to me.
I plan to get to Ukraine eventually, but that might not be until July. I was originally scheduled for May 27, but that is unlikely, though no one really knows. Everything changing constantly.
There is lockdown in Baza, but I can go hiking in the mountains from 6am to 10am each morning, which is convenient because it is cool then (gets hot later). Other than that, life is same for me as ever. I do wear a mask in stores or when talking face to face to someone, but not when walking on an empty street.
I doubt countries will discriminate against Americans in particular, but they may require all inbound tourists to quarantine 2 weeks.

I'm 59 but in good health. I don't think any difference between me and a healthy 40yo man in terms of immunity. Immune system changes during teens but then is stable thereafter as long as you stay lean and muscular, eat well, get enough vitamins and sleep, etc. If you have trouble skipping a day or two of eating, then you are pre-diabetic and that is bad news in terms of immunity. I routinely go a day or two without eating myself.WorldTraveler wrote: I will make it a tread. So you don't think Covid-19 will be harmful to you? Aren't you upper 50s? I had a friend in NYC that he and his wife got it and both have been sick for 5 weeks. So they aren't having any problem in Baza, Spain with Covid-19? Is there a lockdown? Are people wearing masks? Are you social distancing or acting like nothing is going on? Do you think countries will want Americans?

Re: What Is Your Covid-19 Escape Plan?
This is my question to the escape plan question: to where would one escape? I doubt there is any place. Except perhaps Africa.
Prudence is the knowledge of things to be sought, and those to be shunned.
Re: What Is Your Covid-19 Escape Plan?
But isn't Africa the least affected place? That doesn't make sense, if that's true.Moretorque wrote: ↑May 9th, 2020, 2:22 pmI saw a UTUBE video where they were saying it likes to kill Africans ?

I agree, the media is producing "fear porn" with all this exaggeration over the coronavirus. Also all the deaths that supposedly have occurred due to the coronavirus may not actually having anything to do with the virus. I think doctors are being told that if any elderly person dies due to pneumonia or emphysema to attribute the death to Covid-19.
